About Us
Who We Are
Ronald McDonald House® Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois provides care and support for families with a child in medical care. Since opening our doors in 1985, we have welcomed over 40,000 families.
As part of the Ronald McDonald House worldwide network, we are a licensed independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with our own board, budget, and staff.
Our programs include:
- Ronald McDonald House: Iowa City, a 31-room house located on the University of Iowa campus, just three blocks from the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
- Ronald McDonald House Family Room: UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital. Located inside the Helen G. Nassif Center for Women’s and Children’s Health building in Cedar Rapids
- Ronald McDonald House Family Room: University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, located on Level 3, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, in Iowa City

A history of service
Four decades on, the idea has not changed: the best medicine for a child is family by their side. What started as one location on the University of Iowa campus has grown to three across the Corridor, each one built with the same mission in mind.
